How does the NO-COST trial session work?
- There’s nothing to buy, no commitment required, and no payment information will be taken. You just need to request your complimentary session using the form on the Contact page.
- Unlike most other personal training services that offer a “free session” (which usually ends up being a phone call or sales pitch), you can use your complimentary, one-hour training session however you’d like. You can learn some new exercises, have your current program reviewed, check your form, ask questions, discover an exercise that may reduce (or eliminate) pain, etc. Even if you already have a trainer you’re happy with, use the complimentary, no-strings-attached session as a “second opinion” and get some confirmation about the path you’re on.
- Even if you believe that the rates are out of your price range, and you’re certain you won’t purchase training, you are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the complimentary session anyway. Some of the best, long-term clients have been referred by people who only trained with FITNESS 2 THRIVE one time.
- If you’d like to continue training after your complimentary session, you will be asked for a first-session deposit at that time. The first paid session will be a more in-depth evaluation and will be charged at the appropriate hourly rate (see “What are your rates?” below).
What are your rates?
- For the general population, the rate per session is $85/hour or $50/half-hour.
- Seniors, minors, first responders and military (active duty or retired) will receive a 10% discount on all training.
- Seniors that were first responders or military will receive a 15% discount on all training.
- Disabled veterans and Purple Heart recipients will receive a 20% discount on all training (DD-214 required)..
- Sessions are generally purchased one at a time and one session in advance.
- If you’d prefer to buy six or more sessions at a time, you will receive a 5% discount off of the total purchase price.
- Methods of payment accepted are cash and online transfer (Zelle, Venmo, Cash App).
Can you explain more about the 2-month, 6-session guarantee?
- Simply put, anytime from the first paid session to the sixth (within the first two months from the initial paid session), you can ask for and receive a refund of your entire investment for any reason.
- If your first paid session isn’t what you expected and you don’t want to continue, you will receive an immediate refund in cash (if available) or via online transfer.
- As another example, if you bought a six-session package after the complimentary session, and you changed your mind after the first session or two, you will receive an immediate refund for all six-sessions via on-line transfer.
- All refund requests must be made within two months from the start of paid sessions and no refunds will be issued for more than the purchase price of six-sessions.
Where do we train?
- Training is usually done at the client’s home, but other arrangements can be made (e.g at a local park, high-school athletic field, etc.) if the client prefers.
- Training at Jon Durham’s home in Irmo, SC (Ascot Estates area) is also an option.
What equipment do I need?
- Equipment needs vary from person to person. After the complimentary session, recommendations will be given on what equipment to purchase (if necessary) and where to find good prices (FITNESS 2 THRIVE does not sell equipment or profit from equipment purchases).
- If needed, FITNESS 2 THRIVE will bring relevant equipment (adjustable dumbbells, resistance bands, medicine balls, etc.) to sessions until clients can obtain their own.
How often should we meet?
- Training frequency suggestions are based on personal need and budget. If cost wasn’t an issue, we would all have a competent trainer guiding us during every workout.
- FITNESS 2 THRIVE clients have trained as much as 4x/week for multiple years and as infrequently as once per month.
- Generally speaking, clients are encouraged to train two or three times per week for the first week or two, and then reevaluate. Time and money are best used for learning new exercises and progressing your program, not re-teaching the same thing over and over again because of long gaps between sessions.
- Training frequency suggestions are just that…suggestions (not requirements). Advice is based on three decades of training experience and observing what has worked best for most people.
How do I know that you’re trustworthy?
- Prior to the complimentary session, I’m happy to meet at an alternate location (e.g a neighborhood club house/pool area, coffee shop near your home, etc.) to have a chat, show you my drivers license, and/or supply you with a recent background check if requested.
- A number of FITNESS 2 THRIVE clients have offered to serve as a reference and are willing to accept calls or texts regarding the training services.
- I’m happy to have a phone call or text exchange at (803) 200-2030 to address any concerns and answer any questions you may have prior to the complimentary session.
- You’re welcome to have friends and/or family present during your session(s).
